About This Service

At Teddy Bear Dental Care, we believe every child deserves access to dental care in a supportive, understanding environment. Our team has experience working with children with developmental, physical, and medical special needs, including autism spectrum disorders, Down syndrome, cerebral palsy, sensory processing disorders, and other conditions.

Dr. Dorfman and our staff understand that children with special needs may require different approaches to dental care. We take time to understand each child's unique needs, preferences, and sensitivities. We work closely with parents and caregivers to develop strategies that make dental visits as comfortable and successful as possible.

Our office is designed to be a welcoming, sensory-friendly environment. We can adjust lighting, reduce noise, provide weighted blankets, and accommodate other sensory needs. We offer flexible scheduling to allow extra time when needed and can arrange quiet appointment times with minimal waiting room activity.

We use a variety of behavior management techniques tailored to each child's needs. This may include visual schedules, social stories, desensitization visits to familiarize children with the office, and clear, consistent communication. For children who need additional support, we can arrange referrals to specialists or hospital partners when necessary.

Our goal is to help every child achieve optimal oral health while building positive associations with dental care. We celebrate every success, no matter how small, and work patiently toward long-term goals.
