If your child knocks out a permanent tooth, time is critical. Keep the tooth moist (in milk or saliva), handle it only by the crown (not the root), and get to our office immediately. In many cases, we can successfully reimplant the tooth if you reach us quickly.
For baby teeth that are knocked out, we generally do not reimplant them as this could damage the developing permanent tooth. However, it's still important to bring your child in to ensure no other damage occurred and to monitor the space.
